Scam Alert/Fraud

Current Alerts:

Be aware of a Phishing Attempt consisting of fraudulent text messages or recorded calls that are being placed to random phones or cell phones stating that your credit card account or debit card has been deactivated. THIS IS A SCAM. Do not give any information.

The current fraudulent number is 281.616.6450

There may be other phone numbers associated with this phishing attack so if you receive one of these notifications about deactivated accounts please do not release any of your personal information.

A member recently received a text message from 888.409.1997 stating that it was an alert from another credit union. In researching this number it appears to be another scam. Do not give out your personal information.

At SWFFCU we have a strict privacy policy. Not all "financial" institutions do. Many sell your information resulting in you receiving unwanted phone calls and solicitations.

Info on Fraudulent Charges. Here is insider information.  If a debit card is reported lost or stolen, and someone uses that card they need to know your PIN.  Do not give our your PIN, do not write it on the card do not share this information with anyone.  Unfortunately, if someone else knows your PIN and takes your card with or without your permission those charges are not considered fraudulent. Those charges are your responsibility, so be responsible with your PIN.
